Mulgrave Castle Open Gardens Day Success

Whitby District Lions Club was honoured to host a Mulgrave Castle Open Gardens Day on Sunday 20th August. Mulgrave Castle has been the home of The Marquis & Marchioness of Normanby since 1743 and is located just outside Whitby in the village of Lythe. The club would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who came to the event. That Sunday England Ladies may have fallen at the last hurdle but the Lion Ladies played a blinder, with a dazzling display of confectionary, which rapidly disappeared as the event wore on. The plant stall was also a huge success, two large trestle tables groaned under the weight of a vast range of donated greenery which also seemed to evaporate by the end of the day.

The gardens were equally a dazzling display of colour with a varied range of beautiful flowers, the gardens were at their immaculate best which included a rose and walled garden and a stunning woodland walk. We are really pleased to announce the event raised an amazing £3,319.00!! 🤩 All the money raised will help the club support our local community, through the local charities we support and supporting our fleet of disability scooters, that we hire free of charge to the most in need.
