Whitby Lions Boxing Day Dip 2025

Join us for the Whitby Lions Boxing Day Dip — our 50th year of this beloved annual charity event where brave participants run into the North Sea! The event has grown from a handful of brave local citizens to over 300 eager individuals.

Entry & Tickets

£10 per person (plus ticket purchase fees). Registration is mandatory for insurance coverage.

Tickets available online via Ticket Tailor, in person at The Whitby Pet Shop (15 Station Square, Whitby), or on the day at the registration tent.

Schedule

  • Registration opens: 10:00 AM
  • Fancy dress judging: 10:30 AM
  • Sea dip: Immediately after judging
  • Maximum water time: 15 minutes
  • Free warm soup provided post-event

Fancy Dress

Prizes awarded in five categories: Adult Female, Adult Male, Under 16 Female, Under 16 Male, and Team. Blow-up and morph suit costumes are prohibited.

Safety

Participants must be medically and physically able and enter at their own risk. The Whitby Diving Club forms a safety perimeter in the water. Participants can go up to waist or shoulder height but must not be fully submerged. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult throughout.

The 2024 event drew 309 participants and raised £4,389.00.
